03. Cem Karaca - Üryan Geldim - 4:17

Let’s slow it down today. No compilation of Turkish music of the 60’s and 70’s would be complete without Cem Karaca. During this time Turkey was struggling to define its national identity. The progressive left often clashed with nationalists. Karaca became the voice of the left with songs about Turkish identity, income disparity and the ubiquitous message of peace and love. His conviction in these ideals resulted in his exile from Turkey after the military coup of 1980. Without a doubt Cem Karaca had, and was, one of the most powerful voices in Turkish music.
