This one has that archetypal kiwi-rock/down under sound: jangly guitars, punchy bass and vocal harmonies. Perhaps the geographic isolation lead to the development of such a distinct regional sound. Maybe not. But without a doubt Australian bands (such as The Moles) and New Zealand bands (see anything on the Flying Nun label) of the 80s/90s produced fantastic pop songs with great psychedelic and minimalistic sensibilities.
